FAQs

  • Microblading is a form of permanent makeup where a nano blade is used to create thin hair-like strokes throughout a persons brows, giving the illusion of a full, natural brow. Is it a semi-permanent procedure, with results lasting 1-3 years.

Microblading is meant to be a natural enhancement, and to create the appearance of full, beautiful brows. It looks most natural on clients who have full brow hair, and are wanting to perfect their shape and add natural fullness. The more hair you have, the more natural it will appear. This is not an ideal service for those with little natural hair, hair that is patchy, or coarse hair.

Microblading heals best on young, normal/dry skin. Those with combination/oily or aging skin are not candidates for microblading, and are better suited for a combination Blade & Shade brow or Powder Brow.

  • A combination brow combines Microblading strokes with machine shading. Like Microblading, results typically last 1-3 years depending on your skin type.

If you have naturally sparse brow hair or uneven brow growth, a combination brow is perfect for you! Soft shading blends any unevenness in the density giving a more 3D result. It is also idea for those looking for a more defined or filled in brow. We can add as much or as little shading to give a variety of different looks!

This is a beautiful look for all skin types (including oily/aging skin), and heals very soft and beautiful.

  • The Powder or Ombre Brow technique consists of pixelated micro-shading done with a machine. No Microblading or ‘hair strokes’ is involved.

It gives you a soft but more filled-in defined brow. This is a great option for anyone with oily/combination skin or coarse brow hair. Or if Microblading just isn’t enough for you. This is a beautiful look for all skin types and heals very soft and airy.

Not sure which option is best for you? Schedule a consultation on the booking page!

  • For a more natural, less dramatic effect than is achieved with the look of full eyeliner, lash enhancement can be done. The color is implanted at the base of the lash line only. This procedure can even be done on men too and simply serves to define the eye lash line, make the lash base look fuller and more dense. This is great for those that don’t usually wear eyeliner but want the eyes to stand out more. All eyeliner starts with lash enhancement to color in the spaces between the eyelashes. The color is then widened until the preferred thickness is achieved.

  • It is a lip tattoo that enhances and defines your lips. It can help enhance and even out natural color, or add color if you are lacking any pigment. Your lips will look darker and more like lipstick on the first day, and soften as they heal to become a subtle, natural looking lip tint.

  • Natural looking freckles tattooed with semi-permanent cosmetic pigments giving a sun-kissed look without the sun damage. The color, amount and placement are customized for each client.

  • Saline pigment removal is a method of removing pigment from skin using a simple saline solution rather than lasers. A sterile, disposable hand tool is used to deposit the saline solution into the skin. This solution binds to the pigments, breaks them down and draws them out of the skin. Pain and down-time are significantly less in comparison to laser tattoo removal.

  • Immediately after getting your brows done, you may experience minor redness or swelling around the treated area, which typically goes away within 24 hours. Over the next few hours, the pigment in the skin will oxidize, making the brows look darker and warmer (red) then they were initially. This is normal and expected. Pigment typically fades anywhere from 20-40% once fully healed.

Around day 3-4, you may notice light scabbing and flaking on the treated area. This is normal! Please refrain from picking at the flakes. Doing so will result in loss of pigment in those areas and can cause scarring. Brows may appear spotty or patchy until the entire brow has finished healing. Once all the flaking is complete (usually around day 10), the brows will appear much lighter. The pigment will darken over the next 4-6 weeks and the pigment will return to the skin in it healed color.

At 4-6 weeks, your brows will be fully healed. Whatever pigment that does not return will be addressed at your touch up appointment. At this appointment, we will asses your retention, touch up the spots that didn’t stick, and can adjust the pigment color. Once brows have healed from your touch up appointment, you will have beautiful, full brows for many months!

    Microblading: 12-36 months

Blade & Shade or Powder Brows: 36 - 60 months!

  • You may experience minor swelling and redness on procedure day. Some people swell more than others. The eyes can be sensitive and if you have allergies, very watery eyes or know you swell easily, it is advised that you take an over-the-counter anti-histamine such as Benadryl or similar prior to your procedure. Ice packs will help alleviate inflammation and can be used frequently for the first 24 hours. You may resume normal activities immediately except that you will be advised to wear no makeup directly on the treated area for about one week. There is some minor redness, healing and peeling during the first week. Most clients resume their regular schedule, such as returning to work, the very next day. It is advised that for very special occasions or anytime you want to look your super-best that you allow one week of healing time.

  • There will be moderate swelling, redness and bruising for the first 5 days.

Apply a Ziploc bag filled with water and ice for no more than 15 minutes at a time to reduce swelling.

During the initial healing period, there should be minimal scabbing or flaking of the skin. If there is scabbing or flaking, do not pick, and allow the scab or dry skin to come off on its own.

Expect the color to eventually lighten by up to 40% once the healing process is complete.

Color may appear uneven at different stages of healing. Be patient. This is a process that does not yield immediate results. Color will “bloom” over the following 8 weeks after original appointment.

  • Redness and swelling are normal and will be significantly reduced within a few hours. Your skin may be tender for the next day or so. The healing process is similar to a small tattoo, scrape or sunburn. Your cosmetic tattoo will appear slightly darker, sharper and larger than expected for the first few days. It may feel dry, tight or itchy as a light scab forms and flakes off to reveal a new layer of skin underneath. The healing process usually takes 5-10 days. The color will settle in over the next week or so after the skin has completely healed. Healing times and experiences will vary from person to person. It is normal for some of the marks to fade more than others or to even completely disappear. It is extremely important to follow your aftercare instructions for optimal results!

  • Permanent makeup is designed to fade over time. Factors such as skin type, lifestyle, age, metabolism, medications, and pigment color affect the longevity of the tattoo.  The sun and some kinds of lighting (tanning beds) can affect the rate at which these pigments are broken down.  Following the given aftercare instructions is critical to getting your best healed results, and REFRESH every 12-18 months (as needed). Touch-ups are normal and expected for Permanent Cosmetics. Typically, results last:

    Microblading: 12-36 months

Blade & Shade or Powder Brows: 36 - 60 months

    Lip Blush: 36 - 60 months

    Freckles: 12-36 months

    Eyeliner & Lash Enhancement: 36 - 60 months

*Please note that final results vary and CANNOT be guaranteed due to the nature of skin as it heals. A free follow-up appointment is recommended 4-8 weeks after your initial session where we can assess your pigment retention and perfect your permanent makeup! If you do not make your follow up appointment within 4-8 weeks of your initial appointment, additional charges will apply.

  • Most clients report little pain throughout their procedure. While pain tolerance varies between clients, a topical 5% Lidocaine is used throughout the procedure to make you comfortable. Having the procedure during your menstrual cycle may increase your sensitivity.

  • THIS PERTAINS TO PERMANENT COSMETICS ONLY - NOT BROW LAMINATIONS OR LASH LIFTS

Unfortunately, not everyone is a candidate for Permanent Cosmetics. I want each of my clients to get the absolute best results possible, and not every skin type accommodates that. • Most Permanent Cosmetic procedures are a two session process when you’re first starting. Nobody heals 100% perfectly from their first session therefor, a touch up 4 to 8 weeks after ensures the desired outcome and the longest lastings results. This also gives us the opportunity to take baby steps if you’re nervous about it not looking natural. We can always start conservative and then add more in the touch up if desired. It is very important to come in for your touch up within 4-8 weeks of your initial session. In this timeframe, I can touch up spots here and there that need it. If the touch up is done 3+ months after, typically I will need to go over the entire procedure area again to ensure there will not be an uneven fade out. In this case, it would now be considered a Refresh appointment and additional charges will be applied accordingly. To avoid extra charges or missing your time frame - book both your initial session and your touch up at the same time! Typically Annual Refresh appointments don’t require a touch up however, they are included if they are needed!

  • Yes, you must be 3 months post surgery or have a release from your eye surgeon prior to that.

  • You must have the form of glaucoma that does not require medication. If you use prescription medication for any eye condition, you must have a release in writing from your doctor.

  • You must discontinue temporarily leading up and while healing from the eyeliner procedure. It is recommended that you refrain from using the product for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the procedure or until you are sure that the procedure area is completely healed. There is no data that shows if these products influence premature fading of permanent eyeliner.

  • GENERAL PRECAUTIONS

If you are prone to cold sores, lip tattooing CAN cause outbreaks, which can result in loss of pigment. We ask that our clients take their prescribed anti-viral medication (L-lysine or Valtrex) starting 48 hours prior to their appointment and after the procedure to prevent outbreak. You can still have lip blushing done!!! We just want to ensure you get the best results possible. Consult with your doctor for any additional questions. If you have an outbreak, or any other type of scratch/acne we ask that you reschedule your appointment as soon as possible. If you show up with any type of outbreak your appointment is considered cancel and you forfeit your deposit.

    ** Disclaimer

It is required that all clients consult with their physician prior to taking, altering or stopping and form of medications and/or supplements or making any changes to their dosing cycles ect.

Cold Sores… if you’ve had one, you know. If you haven’t, be grateful. One of the first questions I ask my clients in a consolation is wether or not my client has had a cold sore. Some have, some haven’t, but ALL of my clients need to be educated on the risk of a cold sore flare-up post lip blush treatment.

Cold sores are small sore, or blister-like lesions, that appear on the lips, chin, cheeks, inside nostrils, or less frequently on the gums or roof of the mouth. They usually cause pain, burning sensation, or itchy before they burst and crust over.

Cold sore are often called fever blisters. The most common cause of cold sore is herpes simplex type 1 (HSV-1), but sometimes the herpes simplex type 2 (HSV-2) can cause it. HSV-1 and HSV-2 are both highly contagious viruses that can be easily transmitted by close contact. After entering the body, the virus remains dormant most of the time, but if a trigger activates the virus, a cold sore can develop. Trauma to the lips such as a tattoo for instance would be the trigger I’m referring to. One person might just have one outbreak and no reoccurrence, while others may have two or three outbreaks a year. Some people may carry the virus and never have an outbreak because it remains dormant.

If you’ve suffered from a cold sore in the past, you will be at risk for a cold sore flare-up post lip blush treatment. It is encouraged to be proactive to prevent a flare-up. If you have had a cold sore before, it is important to consult with you physician prior to the appointment.

Many clients avoid a cold sore post-procedure by taking Valtrex (prescription) or L-Lysine (vitamin supplement).

** I will not work an any client who has had cold sore in the past (even if it was 20 years ago) if they have not taken any antiviral medications prior to the treatment.

  • After cleaning the skin (and after pre-numbing if applicable) we will draw the freckles on using tattoo ink, which allows us to play around with placement/size/colour while being able to imagine what they'll look like. You're welcome to bring reference or inspiration material if you want, and we can design them together!

  • Unfortunately, I can't tattoo on top of a natural mole if it is raised. It's important to be able to detect any color or shape changes in a mole over time, and most tattooers won't tattoo over them for this reason. If the spot is at all raised, shiny or has a different texture than the surrounding area it's best to leave it alone.

  • While they are healing, no. You won't be able to put any makeup or powder over them for about 2 weeks. Once they're healed, you absolutely can. While the freckles are healing, the tattooed area needs to be kept clean and free of all beauty products.

  • The saline method is a lot less painful in comparison to laser removal which can cause blistering or potential scar formation. Saline removal does not permanently damage the tissue like lasers do. The saline method causes the unwanted pigment to lift out of the skin through Osmosis whereas the laser method uses an intense beam of monochromatic light that breaks the pigment down to be absorbed into your body. Over time, your body's immune system will absorb the pigment however you might be left with scarring or hyperpigmentation. When a laser is used for removal, all of the removed ink is absorbed into the body but with saline removal, most of the ink is lifted up through the surface of the skin. When utilizing Saline Removal, your brow hair will remain intact. Laser tattoo removal will remove the hair on your brows and it may or may not ever grow back. In short, Saline Tattoo Removal/Lightening offers a less invasive method of removing unwanted cosmetic tattoos and body tattoos. A week of scabbing is definitely better than a lifetime of looking at something you are unhappy with.
